The second disc in Vernon Handley and the Royal Philharmonic's series of recordings of the music of Granville Bantock is just as rich and ripe as their first disc. Bantock's Fifne at the Fair from 1911 is lush and luxuriant with sensuous melodies and seductive harmonies and although Beecham used to make a specialty of the work, Handley and the RPO are just as voluptuous and perhaps more polished if possibly less playful.
