Dabringhaus und Grimm's sound is a model of great recorded sound: lush, plush, and just about real.But it is nevertheless a triumph of form over content. While one must acknowledge that much of the greatest music has never been recorded -- think of all that Lassus! -- one cannot regard these early chamber works of Glière as great works.
