Man on the moon. Old news, now, but do you know the whole story about how we got there? From the Earth to the Moon takes the viewer back in time and relates the tiny dramas, personal and national defeats, victories great and small, and all of the technical struggles that suddenly arose from a presidental challenge to land a man on the moon in less than ten years. The technologies that took us there did not yet exist when Kennedy made that speech at the culmination of Alan Shepard's mission, and our entire span of experience in manned space flight was a whopping fifteen minutes. This film puts the viewer into the middle of the wonder, merriment, tragedy and triumph of mankind's incredible journey. It's attention to detail and accuracy are at once soothing and exciting to the history buff and the special effects will take you out of this world. If you haven't seen it or don't own the DVD, what are you waiting for?
