Fair Findings on Francisco Franco
Well written, compelling, and readable biography about the Generalissimo who ruled Spain for nearly forty years. This book is loaded with a lot of interesting trivia about Franco. Preston's treatment of his subject is truly "fair and balanced."

Exhaustive study well worth the time.
Dr. Preston has written an 800-plus page book of Generalissimo Franco that is so absolutely thorough, as well as fair, it and he might be villified by the far-left and the far-right. However, that should encourge many readers to at the very least, crack it open and find the real Franco.
With the left having dominated the press for the last forty years, we are all aware of Franco's crimes, but what Preston does is reveal many of Franco's successes, e.g. religious tolerance(Protestants, Jews, and Muslims), socio-economic system, economic growth, and surprisingly the emasculation of the fascists. Regardless of the conclusion that individuals will draw of Franco, they will certainly regard this work as one of the finest biographies written in the 20th century and if nothing else, a veritable eye-opener.
