A Great Story About Forgiveness and Second Chances
In Finally Free, Michael Vick relates to the reader his football career from his high school days to when he played as quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Of course, much of the book reveals his involvement in dog fighting and his subsequent prison sentence. But there is a lot more to this story: Coach Tony Dungy's forgiving spirit and his support for Michael Vick's return to football is a major component of this candid autobiography. Vick admits that he made poor decisions and associated himself with the wrong people. He also admits that he learned several lessons from these poor decisions. The theme of flight is an underlying motif of the book; Vick was a Hokie (a type of bird) at Virginia Tech, an Atlanta Falcon, and a Philadelphia Eagle. Career statistics and highlights are included in the book. In sum, this is a great story about second chances, learning from mistakes, and starting over.
