Appearing back in town seemingly out of nowhere, David Paxton (Pablo Schreiber) finds that his old friend Joan (Kellie Overbey) is a struggling single mother doing her best to raise her son teenage Ross Connor Paolo). But lately, without a male role model to look up to, Ross' behavior has grown increasingly erratic and unpredictable. Incredibly, David does succeed in breaking through the unruly teen's heavily fortified emotional barrier.
