Organist Thomas Trotter plays the recently (2016) restored organ at King's College Chapel, Cambridge, and it fits Duruflé well both in general terms and in specific instances. Its power is quiet, without the slashing tones of some older cathedral organs, and it corresponds to the essentially lyrical rather than the monumental quality of Duruflé's music. Yet Trotter, who began his career as an organ scholar at King's, is given the ability to be brilliant when he needs to be.
