Her music has only recently been rediscovered by Croatian investigators, but in its time, it was pioneering, and not only in terms of music written by women; the Symphony in F sharp minor, Op. 41, recorded here was apparently the first symphony written in Croatia, and the Piano Concerto in G minor, Op. 33, was also a very early example of the form there. Pejacevic served as a volunteer nurse during World War I and bitterly attacked members of her social class who sought to shield themselves from the war. The Symphony in F sharp minor, composed in 1916, seems to reflect its wartime environment. Especially in the symphony, Pejacevic reveals herself as a fine orchestrator, all the more surprising since she seems to have had little training in the field.
