O objetivo deste trabalho foi combinar o m???todo de cultura com a PCR, tanto monoplex como multiplex, a fim de determinar o risco potencial da ???gua examinada. Foram utilizados m???todos de cultura para detetar indicadores bacterianos e bact???rias patog???nicas seleccionadas, nomeadamente Escherichia coli O157: H7, Legionella spp. e Helicobacter pylori. Al???m disso, a PCR foi utilizada para detetar E. coli O157: H7 e uma PCR multiplex foi utilizada para detetar simultaneamente os seis genes de virul???ncia seleccionados (flic, stx1, stx2, eae, rfbE e hly). Foram recolhidas cento e setenta e cinco amostras de ???gua diferentes no Egipto. As amostras de ???gua foram recolhidas do rio Nilo (ramo Rossita), do Mar Mediterr???neo, de esgotos, de ???guas residuais hospitalares e de ???guas subterr???neas. Legionella spp. e H. pylori foram detectadas por m???todos de cultura em meios selectivos em 25 e 33% das amostras de ???gua examinadas, respetivamente.
