Seller's Description:
Fair. No dust jacket as issued. Cover is worn, soiled, with tears and chips. Some page discoloration. Somewhat fragile. 8 p.; 23 cm. Tables. One of the interesting points in this pamphlet was the statement that "only seventy-two per cent. of the gold produced was coined, or more than one-quarter of the gold produced in the United States was worth more for other purposes thatn it was for money. " The Compiler concludes this pamphlet with the conclusion that "gold has not only not appreciated when compared with labor, but it has depreciated. As gold can be procured for less labor it is no hardship for a debtor who borrowed gold years ago to pay the debt now in gold. " [Presumed to have been presented to the fair in Washington County, Maryland, which would make Hagerstown, MD the most logical publication location. It is recognized that there are several Washington County jurisdictions within the United States.
