Ranged against them are a handful of normals: Saul Laski, psychologist and concentration camp survivor, who has devoted his life to tracking down the Nazi vampire von Borchert; Natalie Preston, whose father inadvertently and fatally crossed the path of the ancient and deadly Melanie; Sheriff Bobby Joe Gentry, dragged in while investigating a series of bizarre murders. I liked this book and could see that this could be....
The volume I received was old and trying to fall apart, but with careful reading it held up and my roommate is now reading it. If you can find this in good condition it's worth reading.

not a vampire novel
These are energy vampires and are not all that interesting to read as the blood drinking kind. Tony is a great evil character but the other thirty leads are rather dull. With so many people they tend to blend together in this long novel. There is also drawings of the chess game going on in the story. Unless the indea of chess is thrilling this book probally isn't going to be much fun.
