Unfortunately, Best and the Corydon Singers did their finest work in small works. Their recording of Beethoven's Mass in C major, for example, was disappointing, as is this reissue of Bruckner's Te Deum and Mass in D minor. Though the singers do their usual fine work -- articulation is clear, balance translucent, tone warm, and expression earnest, and Best does his best -- he has a keen sense of proportion, and he keeps things moving along even during the contemplative moments.
