Approximately halfway in (but perhaps with his taste in honoring repeats gently nudging the Mackerras side), Marek Janowski and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic are featured on this four-disc set of performances that includes the four symphonies, the overtures, and the Haydn Variations. The steep competition already makes this compendium a tough sell; the good if mediocre performances make it nearly impossible.
