I always read this book to my early childhood classes and it was an all time favorite. They wanted to read it over and over. I made props for the characters and items used in the story (a comb, mirror, etc,) and we had a great time acting it out. The witch's hut stands on chicken feet and for some reason this was especially thrilling. A lot of people are against this type of story being read to children but it's just like all the other fairy tales. The copy I just bought is for me to share with my ,as yet, non-existent grandchildren. I have a collection of all of my classroom favorites just because I love them and I anticipate wonderful times in my future.
