Bird Box, in my opinion, was a bit challenged by the very nature of its creatures. You really never get a good description of them due to the fact that any time a character sees them, that character swiftly checks themselves out due to insanity. If anyone wants to stay alive, they absolutely must keep their eyes closed. This leaves it entirely up to the reader's imagination. That can be a good thing or a bad thing. Fear of the unknown and all that, I get it. Some readers, myself included, tend to like a really good description of the monsters in a good horror to really immerse themselves. I have to say, this writer handles it so well. Even without having any description whatsoever, I felt immersed wholly into the main character and her various companions' ordeals. This novel so vividly describes the paranoia amongst all the characters and fear felt during encounters. Suspense oozes out of every single word in this novel. Even when being deprived completely of one sense throughout an entire novel, I felt like I had such a very detailed picture in my mind of everything going on, and kept feeling absolutely absorbed into reading more.
