David Lavender's chronicle of these men and their part in the opening of the West has been conceded a place beside the works of Parkman and Prescott.

Bent's Fort is one of the places mentioned in almost all of the early historical travels of the Traders and Trappers. To really read and understand it's true history and how it came about was fantastic for me, as a lifelong lover of American Western History. So very much information that one never gets elsewhere. A truly great read on the history of the Rocky Mountain West.
