This article will deal with the problem of obtaining the approximate field amplitude in the case where the field of rays is regular. An ordinary differential equation which is coupled to the ray equations and whose solution is inversely proportional to the square of the field amplitude in the geometrical Optics limit will be derived. This differential equation can be integrated numerically by means of the same proce dures which are applied to the ray equations. It may also prove to be of some theoretical value.
