William Smith. Very Good. A first edition of this history of Abbotsford, the one time residence of the historical novelist and poet, Walter Scott. With twenty full-page illustrations in colour by William Smith. From the Preface: "That Abbotsford merits a volume in the present series will be readily conceded." In a green cloth binding with gilt decoration to the front board, and gilt lettering to the spine. Externally, sound with slight rubbing. There is some wear to the top and tail of the spine and corners are bumped. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with some spotting to the first and last few pages. There is a bookplate to the front pastedown and an ink inscription to the recto of front free-end paper, dated 1946. Very Good.
