The authors provide a comprehensive review of the pharmacological activity of cetrarioid lichens and their major secondary metabolites as antioxidants to prevent and treat oxidative stress-related diseases. In addition, the efficiency of green and conventional solvent systems concerning the three classes of phytochemicals (phenols, alkaloids, and flavonoids) is described.
